Vicar Lane (West Yorkshire) Bus Station
Undated. View of Vicar Lane Bus Station, also known as the West Yorkshire Bus Station. The photograph is taken from the south-east corner of the bus station at the junction of Lady Lane (off Vicar Lane), left, and Edward Street, where the two women can be seen walking. (Edward Street runs between Lady Lane and Templar Street) In the backgound, left, are the booking and enquiry offices of the West Yorkshire Road Car Company Ltd., motor coach proprietors, at number 104 Vicar Lane. In the background, right, is the side of the Central Hosiery firm which fronted Vicar Lane at number 120. The bus station was laid out on the former site of the workhouse and north bar. It opened in 1936-7 but closed on 31st March 1990 and the site has since been used as a car park.
