Joseph Harrop, Mayor of Morley 1922-23
Undated. This photograph along with two other past presidents originated from Morley Liberal Club when it closed down in the 1960s. It is of Joseph Harrop, owner of a mill on Daisy Hill and one of the least publicised Mayors of Morley. His term of office was from November 1922 to November 1923, a time when Morley Council were busy planning and building many new council houses after the First World War. Some of them were built specifically to house large families towards the end of the 1920s and the streets were named after Joseph Harrop i.e. Harrop Avenue, Harrop Grove and Harrop Crescent. Photograph from the David Atkinson Archive.
