Description:
3rd July 1985. Colour photograph of Williams' newsagents and tobacconist at no.23 New Briggate. Advertisements for Benson and Hedges cigarettes are on the fascia sign and canopy; other cigarettes are advertised in the window. A newspaper stand is outside the door. The adjacent property, formerly a fish and chip shop, is currently vacant and has fly posting over the door and windows.

For years this was known as Barrys on Briggate. Probably, nay defnately the most expensive shop in Leeds!

Barry was also known as Barry the B*****d for charging a fortune for cigarettes after coming out of the nightclubs!
