Her Royal Highness Princess Mary recieves a curtsey as she is presented with a bouquet of Carnations at the Childrens Palace Garden Party held at Headingley Cricket Ground. Sir Edwin Airey, a former Lord Mayor of Leeds (1923) and of William Airey and Son (Leeds) Ltd, the building company, stands to the left of the Princess. Far right in top hat and chains of office is the Lord Mayor, Alderman Hugh Lupton. The weather appears to be uncertain as the party are carrying umbrellas.
